The Earth...

...is full of the Lord's goodness.  Psalm 33:5

Sometimes that is easy to forget when gunman shoot innocent victims, mudslides devastate homes and mudslinging dominates our politics.

I have found that it is easy to become disillusioned and discouraged, especially while watching the political candidates, until I turn my focus back on God.

Amidst natural disasters and global crazies, I find God's goodness in my children's smiling faces as they roll down a hill full of giggles when they reach the bottom.  I find God's goodness when I eat some of my mother's homemade apple pie or worship with fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Take a look around...open your eyes and you will see God's goodness too.

007 Or Just Double Zero

The two "O's", Obama and Oprah, hit the campaign trail this weekend in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

Oprah's speech had passion, conviction and at one point I even thought, "Wow, she really knows how to inspire a crowd."  Of course, that is her day job.

However, the question remains, did the audience members score tickets just to get a glimpse of the famous talk show host or did they really hear the issues from Obama's mouth.

Let's take a look at those issues according to Obama:

Abortion -
Obama strongly supports including partial birth abortion.

Greenhouse Emmissions -
Obama supports stong limitations.

Amnesty -
Obama supports allowing 12 million illegals to stay in US while creating a pathway for them to earn their citizenship.

Iraq war -
Obama wants US troops withdrawn ASAP.

Taxes -
Obama wants to reverse the tax cuts granted to Americans.

Sounds like Hollywood has been talking to Obama and not about a James Bond movie.  Now don't get me wrong, I am sure Barak Obama is a nice guy who is compassionate about what he believes just as I know Oprah is an amazing talk show host and good person.

However, each American, must decide for themselves if Barack Obama and Oprah's values are right for Americans, our families and our country.  Just because God and the Bible are mentioned in speeches does not mean that one's stance on the issues is grounded in Scripture.

I guess, for now, it should be an interesting show...popcorn anyone?

NBC...The Grinch of Christmas

NBC has axed ads that would thank our troops this Christmas season.

 www.freedomswatch.org

Men and women of the military will be spending their time away from their families this Christmas to protect the very freedom NBC gives away to Al Gore for a 35-hour block on global warming.

The ads are simple, short and extend gratitude to our troops from Americans during a time that will be difficult for them.

Scrooge or the Grinch might have stolen blessings or even Christmas but in the end they corrected the error of their ways.

Will NBC?

Doubtful...however all the Americans in Whoville need to stand together around our troops showing them our gratitude for the job they do.  Maybe our Christmas spirit will change the heart of NBC...until then...time to boycott the Grinch!

Could They Be Lying?

Liars...Some Americans believe that our leaders, our government, our military are the ones that can't be trusted.  Maybe...to a degree...they can't but...

What makes Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, such a trustworthy guy that some automatically believe when he says they are no longer pursuing nuclear opportunities that he is being truthful?

What has Hugo Chavez done that makes some Americans cling to him like the perfect Messiah or how can they trust the soul of Putin?

Why couldn't weapons of mass destruction have been moved to another country or why can't Iran still be pursuing nuclear weapons secretly?

Jihadist terrorists admit they will lie when it comes to their religious war...in fact, lying seems pretty minor compared to being a suicide bomber and instigating war on 9/11.  These are men that will think nothing of strapping on bombs and killing innocent men, women and children.  They think nothing of the murders they commit and see it as something admirable.

These are the men liberalas trust?  These are the men liberals turn to for leadership and inspiration?

No thanks, Mr. Liberal...I choose to believe America...I choose to support my leaders, my military and my country.

What's To Consider?

IT IS THE SOLDIER

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Isn't this a great poem...Too bad the Asheville Art Board doesn't think so!  They are reconsidering a proposal to use it as a memorial wall for our veterans in downtown Asheville.  Some residents have complained that it does not represent our military well.

Hmmm...

If it wasn't for the Soldier those residents would not be able to complain.

Amazing how in a New York Public Library, artist can hang "fake mug" shots to defame our country's leaders for everyone to see and even though thousands are upset...they still hang there.  However, when a community wants to hang a beautifully written poem to honor our soldiers that fight for our freedoms everyday, it must be considered?

Unbelievable...

Don't Taze Me Bro' Part Deux!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMaMYL_shxc

Okay, my husband's best friend is a State Trooper and I understand that if they feel threatened, they can use a taser or defend themselves...BUT...(as my son would say)...Dude, this guy was walking away you!

Now the victim was on Fox Friends this morning and said the cop was getting threats and he would like that to stop.  He just wants trooper's to use the taser when needed not when they are angry.

Maybe Bill O'Reilly should send this guy a "Don't Taze Me, Bro!" bumper sticker!

A Teddy Triumph!

KHARTOUM, Sudan —  A British teacher jailed after she allowed her students to name a teddy bear Muhammad was released Monday hours after Sudan's president pardoned her, a British embassy spokesman said.

Do I hear a Teddy cheer?  The teddy bear tragedy is over and Ms. Gibbons has been pardoned with no stuffing lost and all her fur in place.  However, she must return home now to Great Britain where the Islamic community there will be waiting her arrival.

Ms. Gibbons, you may want to hire a bodyguard...make sure he is more like a Grizzly Bear...and don't call him Mohammed.

Putin's Power...Chavez's Defeat

Putin continues to control the power in Russia while Hugo Chavez accepts this defeat.

CARACAS, Venezuela —  Humbled by his first electoral defeat ever, President Hugo Chavez said Monday he may have been too ambitious in asking voters to let him stand indefinitely for re-election and endorse a huge leap to a socialist state.

Way to go Venezuela!  Democracy and freedom still reign in your streets because of your stand against a socialist society!  Chavez tried to change the constitution to allow him to reign until he was 95 years old but today he accepted his defeat.  Now, if Russin voters would follow your example!

MOSCOW —  International observers and critics declared Monday that Russia's parliamentary elections failed to meet democratic standards, saying President Vladimir Putin and his government abused their power to favor the dominant Kremlin-backed party while opposition forces were harassed.

Some scary things happening in this country.   A documentary on CNN last night reported of over 200 investigative journalist of the free press have been murdered.  Putin would like for his power to continue and the country voted yesterday to determine if his reign would continue.  Of course, their are some questions about the voting procedures.

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,314591,00.html

Will he continue to rule his country even though the constitution of Russia states he must step down next year...we will have to wait and see...

I'd Be Depressed Too...

...if my top candidate was Hillary Clinton.

Studies show that Democrats are more depressed than Republicans.  58% of Republicans show that their Serotonin levels are doing well while only 38% of Democrats can say the same.

Hmmm...I guess supporting abortion, civil unions, amnesty, and hating our leaders takes a toll on the old noggin' and heart.

A wise old saying reads... "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones."

It comes from the book of Proverbs in the Bible.

Oh, I almost forgot...Liberals want that banned too.

No Coffee for These Mugs

Attention Fellow Americans!  Coming to a library probably not near you but paid for by our tax dollars...the latest in "freedom of speech" disrespectful art.

This one is right up there with the "General Betray Us" picture.

Our leader is not the only one who graces the walls of the New York City Public Library...several other cabinet members got their "fake mug shot" right along beside him.

Forget allowing the Ten Commandments to be on the walls of the library or Bibles to grace the shelves.  This is what "extreme liberals" consider appropriate for adults and children to see.  I understand an artist doing this but the library actually displaying it.  That is just mockery of not only our leader but also our country.  Add another strike for those who hate America!

The Ultimate Homework Debate

The solution for too much homework?  Let students do all their work at home.  That's what my boys do anyway.  I figured if I was going to spend 4 hours a night helping them with homework, I might as well teach them at home.  That's right, we are a homeschooling family!

Now, before you roll your eyes or think that you could never do that...let me just say...You already are!  It takes us a total of about 5 hours to do our work each day.  The only thing they have to do after we finish is correct any problems they missed.

But what about socialization?  There are plenty of opportunities outside of the home for kids to interact with others their own age.  Co-op classes, sports, music groups, scouts, art classes, etc. and there is more time to do them since they replace the 4 hours spent finishing homework.

One-on-one tutoring has been proven to be more effective way of learning.  Some parents even pay for extra one-on-one tutoring in the evening if their children are having difficulty.  Homeschooling allows for one-on-one tutoring all the time.

With the mass amounts of curriculum available, parents can individualize their child's studies in a way that will be beneficial to them and their learning style.

My children have aced their end of the year tests and my youngest did not miss any problems on the math portion.

With all the problems we have to deal with everyday...education does not have to be one of them!

Teddy Terror

Hold on to your teddy's, folks!  The jihadist in Sudan want to execute a British teacher for allowing her students to name a stuffed bear, Mohammed!  Instead of the recommend firing squad and forty lashes, she received 15 days in jail and deportation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EAY0Ajyn7I

What will the jihadist do next?  Perhaps, decapitate all the teddy's in the world or take out a hit on the Build-A-Bear companies and Gund! Maybe they are angry since their name contains "Mohammed" and they don't like being compared to a soft, fluffy teddy bear.

It seems to me the teacher wanted to get her class excited about journaling and chose a beloved icon to help.  What kid doesn't love a soft teddy?

I can visualize their excitement in voting on its name, how special they must have felt to bring it home with them over the weekend and write about what they did together.  I bet they couldn't wait to write down their thoughts and then share them with the rest of the class.  Did they ever dream it would become a global issue of this magnitude?

Let me just say, I agree that names are special.  There is one name in all the world that changed my life...Jesus.  I often turn the channel or walk out of movie theaters when His name is used in a blasphemous way.  I guess that might be controversial to some but at least believers in America don't scream for the lives of movie producers who continue the defamation of God.  Of course, Rosie O'Donnel would disagree.

As for the teacher, I think she wanted to do something good for these children and she did.  Maybe, since she lived in a strong Islamic country, she should have used a little more wisdom in the choices for the name but her indiscretion is not worthy of death or deportation.

Why she would want to continue living there...beats me.

I think I would be more like Goldilocks...eat the porridge, take a nap and then get the heck out of there!
